Do you really know the Divorce Lawyer you are about to hire?
Do not be afraid to ask questions before hiring a Family Law lawyer. If possible, speak with more than one attorney before deciding if that lawyer is right for you. Family Law cases can be very emotional and can drag out a long time. It is a good idea to make sure that you and your lawyer will be able to work well together. Be sure to ask the following questions:
T How many matrimonial cases have you handled?
T How many of these cases involved child custody issues?
T How many of these cases involved financial issues (Such as alimony, division of retirement accounts, sale of the marital residence)?
T Do you personally know my husband (or wife)?
T Do you know my spouse’s attorney?
T Do you have the time to take on a new case right now?
Remember, your lawyer works for you! You have the right to hire or fire any lawyer you choose.
